A pair of decorative 19th century Turkish/Ottoman bath clogs (also known as nalins). Traditionally used in bathing ceremonies in the hamman/bathhouse or for daily personal cleansing. Even when visiting the Turkish bath house, high-class women were adorned with lavishly ornate attires. These clogs were designed for wealthy women to protect their feet from dirty bath water while also displaying their social status.
Each clog comprises of a high wooden platform and a raised upper strap. The entire upper sections are embossed with silver tone filigree decoration.
